Everyone has a gift, and we are on track to open on time on Wed., Aug. 10 at 10am Alaska time -- that's 2pm Eastern/6pm UTC. Treats (extra gifts) for participants are still gladly accepted, and will continue to be accepted until the anonymous period ends on Wed., Aug. 17.

Let me know if you have any questions about how to submit treats. You can look at all the requests on AO3 here if you’d like to find someone to make a treat for!

If you're having trouble with your assignment, have questions, think you might need to drop out but aren't sure, or just want to let me know how your assignment is going, please leave a comment below, or send me a PM. I can't reply to a screened comment without unscreening it, so if you leave a comment that needs a response and can't be unscreened for anonymity reasons, let me know how you'd prefer to be contacted (PM, email, etc).

This check-in is not required. It's just a reminder that the deadline is coming up in about 3 weeks, give or take a little, and it's also an opportunity to let me know if you're having trouble and need help with your assignment, and/or if things have blown up unexpectedly (a 2022 mood!) and you think you might have to drop out.

Posted assignments need to be complete (not placeholders) but you can continue editing them up to the reveals deadline.

Please keep your assignment secret from your recipient to preserve the fun of the secret-santa-style surprise, although you can obviously talk to your brainstorming partners and betas about it!

I'll be closing SSR Confidential signups at the end of the day on Tuesday - or more accurately when I get up on Wednesday, so (my time zone being what it is) if it's Tuesday anywhere in the world, you can still sign up.

We've had a nice little flurry of last-minute signups, and there are lots of different pairings and characters being requested this year, from the bigger pairings like Peggy/Angie (good Cartinelli rep this year!) and the SSR OT3, to What If? Peggy, Jack & Vernon, crossovers and more! All pairings and characters are welcome, with a minimum of just 1 request and offer.

I went ahead and turned signups on tonight so I can troubleshoot any problems that come up, as I'm going to be away from my computer for part of the day tomorrow. I'll do the major announcements over the next couple of days, but you can certainly signal boost anytime!

2022 Tagset

2022 AO3 Collection

Signup form

The tagset will remain open throughout signups, so if you don't see the character or relationship that you want in the drop-down, you can add it! I've preloaded it with a basic set of tags, but others are welcome. At least one person involved must be an Agent Carter character.

New this year:

- We are now using the Relationship rather than Character field, so when nominating tags, you can simply use the canonical version of a relationship if one exists. Individual characters should have "Solo: " before their name, e.g. "Solo: Peggy Carter." There is no need to disambiguate.

- This year, you can request and/or offer as few as just one character and/or relationship. People who only have one request or offer may be asked to add another one if they turn out to be extremely hard to match, but we'll try to avoid it.

I LIVE! And so does the exchange! Real life came down on me pretty hard in May, but I've been setting everything up today, and I think we're set! Here is the revised 2022 schedule:

2022 Schedule:
• June 5-14: Signups & nominations (simultaneous)
• June 15-ish: Assignments go out
• July 15: Creator check-in (optional)
• Aug. 3: Fanworks due
• Aug. 10: Archive goes live
• Aug. 17: Creator reveals

Next year I'll try to go back to the spring schedule, but let's see how the summer one works out!

SSRC 2022 WILL happen, but life fell on my head in March pretty hard, and I have two planned trips in April (one for family stuff; the other is the first just-for-fun vacation I'll be taking since 2019 - what even!!) ... so I'm going to push the schedule back to May; it will run later than usual this year.

I'll announce a finalized schedule in early May - I think we'll be looking at mid to late May signups, with the creation period running through August.

I plan to go back to the regular schedule next year, but at this point I think it's going to have to be either this or skipping a year.

So stay tuned, and I'll see you all in May!

2022 round is coming up!

Hello, and welcome back for our 7th(!!) year!

Approximate schedule:

I plan to stick to a similar schedule to the one we've used in past rounds, with nominations and signups in late March/early April, and a June deadline.

Rule changes - there will be two changes this year:

- I'll be allowing signups and offers with just one character/pairing. This has been asked for in the past, and this year, since more exchanges are moving to a one-request minimum and it seems to be working out fine, we will be allowing it too! This should make it easier for OTP people to participate! It also should make the signup form a little less confusing.

- This is a very minor change, but we'll be using the relationship field for tag nominations instead of the character field. This should make nominations easier since you can use the canonical tag for all pairings that have one, rather than having to type them out.

- We will continue to use the 500 word fic minimum from the last couple of years. Planned fanwork types will be fic/art/vids, but if you'd like to request a new one, please ask in the comments.

Creators are revealed at SSR Confidential! You can now link to your work, repost it elsewhere, add any revealing author’s notes you might have wanted to, add it to a series, basically do anything with it that you would normally do.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated, as a writer, artist, beta, or a commenter or cheerleader! If you haven’t had a chance to comment on your gift yet, please do - and if you had to default, you might still have a gift, so please check your gifts page! Failure to comment may jeopardize your ability to participate next year. However, it’s never too late, and it’s also not too late to read everything - I’ve only just started, and there’s a lot of good stuff; don’t miss out.

We’ll be back next year at about the same time for our next round!

If you are participating in this year's SSRC, you should have gotten an email with a link to your gift. Please let me know right away if you can't find a gift or if there is something wrong with it (e.g. it contains something you asked not to have). And don't forget to leave a comment for your creator!

Everything will remain anonymous until July 8, so please keep what you made a secret until then. After the works are revealed, you can repost it in other places, link to it, and otherwise treat it as you would anything you normally made! And thank you so much to everyone who participated - this is a great year and I can't wait to dive into the archive (and read my gift!!).

We're still waiting on one (scheduled) extension, but otherwise, all pinch hits are in and everything else is ready to go! There is a possibility we may end up opening late if the extension assignment is late or ends up requiring a pinch hit, but at this point I'm still planning on opening July 1 at 10am Alaska time (2pm EDT).

You can continue to add treats if you like! The collection will remain open for treats after reveals, so if you start working on something now and are worried about finishing in time, it's never too late.

Your assignments are due TODAY, June 24! If you will need extra time, please leave a comment (all are screened), DM me, or contact me at ssrconfidential to request an extension - please let me know your AO3 name when you do. It is perfectly fine to ask for an extension! If no specific day is asked for, I am currently giving extensions through Sunday night (so you have the whole weekend to work on it).

Tomorrow morning when I get up (Alaska time zone) I’ll be going through what we have, and if anyone hasn’t either turned in their assignment or asked for an extension, I’ll default the assignment and send it out to the pinch hitters.

Assignments that don't meet the minimum requirements or are obvious placeholders will also go to pinch hit. Your assignment can be rough and you can continue editing it right up 'til reveals on July 1, but it MUST be a completed assignment that meets the exchange minimum requirements by tomorrow morning, or else you need to have asked for an extension or otherwise approved it with me!

Please also feel free to contact me if you are having any trouble posting your assignment or need extra help.

We have a GREAT-looking collection so far - I think this is shaping up to be our biggest and best year yet!

Unless you've asked for an extension, all fanworks are due on June 24 at midnight, technically midnight Alaska time but actually, anywhere in the world. (I'm in one of the farthest-west time zones and I won't be checking until I get up on the 25th, so if it's still June 24 literally ANYWHERE, you're good).

Please make sure to give me your AO3 name so I know which assignment is yours!

Anyone who hasn't turned in a complete assignment that meets the minimum or asked for an extension by morning of June 25 will be defaulted and their assignment sent to pinch hitter. You can still edit your assignment on Ao3, send it out for beta, etc. right up until reveals on July 1, but it should adequately meet the words/art/vids minimums and should not be an obvious placeholder at the deadline.

You don't need to reply to stay in, but this is a good time to let me know if you have questions, need help, or feel your assignment isn't turning out to be a good fit for you, and you can also give me an early heads-up if you might have to drop out. You can also comment to talk in general terms about how your assignment is going, and encourage each other!

Do we need a beta-reader post this year, for people to offer their beta services or look for one? In the past we haven't gotten much traffic on them, but I'd be happy to put one up if people want it.

Remember that you must create a fanwork for one of your recipient's requested character or pairing tags, but it only has to be one of them, and it doesn't have to be the one(s) you offered if you see something in their request you like better.

And please keep your assignment secret so that it will be a surprise! The AO3 collection is open for posting, so you can post assignments and treats whenever they're done; it will be hidden until reveals in early July.

We have 31 signups this year, our best year ever! I will be working on matching people this weekend and sending out assignments hopefully later today, but definitely by the end of the weekend (just in case something comes up today where I can't finish).

We have a really excellent mix of different pairings and requests. I think it's going to be our best year ever!

It looks like we're going to have a GREAT year - we have 23 signups so far, 2 more than last year! You can check out the signup summary here to see what's been requested so far, and the requests here for more details.

Signups close at the end of the day on April 30th, though I'm going to leave it open 'til I get up on May 1 just to collect any last-minute stragglers, then do matching and send out assignments.

If you haven't signed up yet, it's only a 500-word minimum for fic - 1 piece of art, 1 minute of vid - and you have until the end of June.

As last year, nominations and signups are simultaneous. The tagset comes prefilled with a basic collection of characters and relationships; please add any others that you would like to request or offer. I'll be approving tags as they come in, but you can also bring it to my attention that you've added some.

One small change: in past years we've separated fanart into "drawn/digital" and "graphics" (this was suggested when I first started the exchange) but the standard thing in exchanges these days seems to be grouping them together, so I have rolled it into one "Fanart" category. As in past years, you can request and offer any combination of fic, art, and vids.

Feel free to link to this exchange anywhere! Here are some banner graphics if you'd like to use them (more under the cut).

Signups will open somewhat late in the day, because I'm going to tweak the signup form a bit and I haven't had a chance to do that and test it yet - last year there were some matching issues and I'm going to take pains to avoid that this year. But tomorrow I've set a big block of time aside for setting everything up and dealing with any new-signup issues once things are fully a go, so I'll make an announcement here when we're ready to roll!
