Countdown party!

Your assignments are due on June 1! The SSR Confidential website says 8 p.m. Alaska time, but it actually SHOULD be "end of day on June 1" (I would have done 11:59pm if you could still do that on AO3, but you have to choose from a handful of preset times, and midnight is too confusing since it could also be the previous day) so I've set the countdown to 11:59:59 on June 1. Technically I am going to wait 'til I get up on June 2 to default any remaining assignments from anyone who hasn't asked me for an extension, so if it's still June 1 anywhere in the world, you're still good. PM me, send an email, or contact me on Tumblr if you are not going to make the deadline and need an extension!

Favorite Peggy outfit - visual aids welcome!

The classic red hat and blue blazer? The eyeball-searing red dress? Or maybe some of those stylin' pantsuits from season 2?

... not gonna lie, I still have a particular fondness for her leather jacket from CA:TFA.

I don't know how to upload photos to DW, but I have an especial fondness for the blue dress with red trim from s.1 (and for some reason, some of the s. 2 promos). But I also really love her less iconic office wear. I've been inspired towards wearing vintage and repro 40s styles to work ever since, especially dresses and skirts/blouses. (And if you accessorize with modern stuff, people don't even notice that your life is one giant Peggy cosplay.)

haha, excellent point! :D But yeah, I'd love to get into wearing more vintage styles, though it doesn't quite work with my current lifestyle. I like her more understated and less dramatic looks, too.

One of my very fave fight scenes is when she gets the guy in the face with the freezer door in the kitchen IIRC -- which was repeated in Atomic Blonde too.

The kitchen fight scene was so great. I loved how brutal it was - slamming into doors, trying to push each other's face into the burner flame. It wasn't graceful or balletic, it was just two people trying to kill or otherwise incapacitate each other.

I love that Peggy is such a BRUISER. Before we knew about Michael my headcanon was that she must have had older brothers who taught her how to fight and she wound up on the bottom of the pile a lot. (I suppose Michael still could have taught her!) And I loved Hayley's posts about how she punched the stuntmen, broke the clapper, &c &c.

YES, I love how her fight style is so raw and scrappy! I think finding out she did actually have one older brother actually fits with that pretty well; I assume they probably scrapped quite a bit with each other and she probably tagged around and learned some tricks from him and his school friends.

And yeah, Hayley seems to have been life imitating art, there. XD

Stapler to the face is probably my favorite, though I do like Howard's pen camera. Oh! And the device Jarvis used that required him to know (I can't remember which actress's) measurements.

You can't really beat a good stapling to the face. :D

Something funny? Something exciting? Something shippy? Something involving flamingos?

So hard to single out just one. A few relationship-bound favorites of mine:

Jarvis stitching up Peggy and telling her she needn't do it alone: aka what made me very invested in their relationship. Incredibly intimate, and yet delicate. Conversely, I also love their vicious argument in s2 where they both hit where it hurts, because I'm built like that, fannishly.

Which is also why I love the final Peggy-Howard argument from The Blitzkrieg Button (which is also, I'd argue, the most telling scene about Howard Stark in the entire MCU), and the big angsty sequence where she talks him out of hypnosis and into "he was good, wasn't he" in the s1 finale. Not least because that's Peggy getting closure on her loss of Steve.

The two "dinner order" scenes wrapping the progress of the Peggy 'n Jack relationship from s1 and s2. I love that when he says "You know what, Marge... I'll do that" in s2, it feels natural and earned, and also I didn't have the impression Peggy said that to humiliate him earlier, or gloat about how things had changed, but as a ribbing between friends and acknowledgment of the past, and that's how he took it.

Peggy breaking Dottie out from prison, and Dottie's entire reaction. Her best enemy, at last! But Peggy never loses sight of how incredibly dangerous Dottie is for a moment.

Yesss, these are all excellent choices. :) So many interesting relationships on that show. I especially like what the fight between Peggy and Jarvis in the second season shows about their relationship, that they've learned how to hurt each other -- they know each other that well by that point. And the mirroring of the Peggy and Jack scenes is really well done, too.

Jarvis introducing Peggy to Ana -- the whole "she hugs" "she does not hug" thing.

I loved that bit so much I iconned it. HOW MUCH DO I LOVE ANA. I was sad because I shipped Jarvis/Peggy in S1, but Ana was just perfect.

Oh yes, I love that! It's so adorable. :D

When Peggy kidnaps and threatens to torture giant bodyguard guy, and Sousa when he goes from oh my god, what is Peggy doing! to the realisation that he will absolutely back her up 100% of the time. Because Peggy.

Jack's S2 change of heart. All the scenes where he is Genuinely Helping despite still being Jack-ish are so satisfying to me.

I was so pleased with Jack's development in season 2. It wasn't quite what I was expecting, but it was everything I never knew I wanted. :D

Speaking of Ana, as a 'half-Hungarian' (mom's dad immigrated, so did her mother's parents) this story gets them DEAD ON and is a great character study of Ana and a sobering historical fic to boot.

Howard's ridiculous car from s2 (aka the 1940s version of Tony's air plane with pole dancers), complete with tracking device.

The car is so ridiculous and OTT and fun. :D

I'm not sure if it's Howard's or standard SSR issue to female agents, but I am especially fond of Sweet Dreams lipstick, especially now that I have a replica from Besame Cosmetics. I think I will start carrying it in my bag, just so that I know I have it . . .

I have my Sweet Dreams replica too! We're all prepared in case of enemy agents ... :D
