It's June 1 and we're halfway through our creation period! Assignments are due at the end of June. How's it going?

You don't need to reply to stay in, but this is a good time to let me know if you have questions, need help, or feel your assignment isn't turning out to be a good fit for you, and you can also give me an early heads-up if you might have to drop out. You can also comment to talk in general terms about how your assignment is going, and encourage each other!

Do we need a beta-reader post this year, for people to offer their beta services or look for one? In the past we haven't gotten much traffic on them, but I'd be happy to put one up if people want it.

Comments are screened, but I will unscreen your comment unless it contains identifying information about your assignment or if you ask me not to.

Remember that you must create a fanwork for one of your recipient's requested character or pairing tags, but it only has to be one of them, and it doesn't have to be the one(s) you offered if you see something in their request you like better.

And please keep your assignment secret so that it will be a surprise! The AO3 collection is open for posting, so you can post assignments and treats whenever they're done; it will be hidden until reveals in early July.

Signups for SSR Confidential 2021 are open from now 'til April 30!

As last year, nominations and signups are simultaneous. The tagset comes prefilled with a basic collection of characters and relationships; please add any others that you would like to request or offer. I'll be approving tags as they come in, but you can also bring it to my attention that you've added some.

One small change: in past years we've separated fanart into "drawn/digital" and "graphics" (this was suggested when I first started the exchange) but the standard thing in exchanges these days seems to be grouping them together, so I have rolled it into one "Fanart" category. As in past years, you can request and offer any combination of fic, art, and vids.

It's just about five weeks until the June 7 deadline! How is work going on your SSR Confidential assignment?

All comments are screened. If you're having trouble with your assignment, have questions, think you might need to drop out, or just want to let me know how your assignment is going, please leave a comment below, or send me a PM. I can't reply to a screened comment without unscreening it, so if you leave a comment that needs a response and can't be unscreened for anonymity reasons, let me know how you'd prefer to be contacted (PM, email, etc).

This check-in is not mandatory; it's just a reminder that we’re about halfway through the creating period, and an opportunity to give me advance notice if you're having trouble and might need help with your assignment, and/or if things have blown up unexpectedly (as it has for many of us right now!) and you think you might have to drop out.

Last year I tried reusing a tagset from the previous year, but that was cumbersome, so we're starting over fresh this time. I have prefilled the tagset with a very basic set of characters and relationships, so check if yours is already in.

This year, you have 10 nominations; please select Agent Carter for the fandom. As always, both characters and relationships should be entered in the "character" box, and relationships should begin with "Relationship: ", e.g. "Relationship: Peggy Carter/Dottie Underwood."

All relationships must include at least one Agent Carter character. For purposes of this exchange, Steve Rogers is not considered an Agent Carter character, e.g. Steve/Peggy is fine as a relationship but Steve/Tony wouldn't be.

Crossovers are fine as long as they include at least one Agent Carter character. They should also be entered under the Agent Carter fandom.

I will be leaving nominations open throughout the signup period, so you can add more tags when you sign up, if you still have open nomination slots. If you want more than 10, I can add them for you, just let me know.

Please DO NOT disambiguate tags (i.e. adding the fandom in parentheses), as in some exchanges. Just use the canonical characters and the "Relationship:" version of relationship tags.

Hey hey! We're back for a fifth(!!) year!

I've just created the 2020 AO3 collection and updated the sticky rules post with this year's dates and info. Everything this year will be identical to last year except for a couple of changes to tags and signups.

- I'm going to experiment with keeping the tagset open throughout the signup period. This means if there's anything you want that's not in the tagset, you can either add it or, if you're out of slots, ask me to add it. (This WILL make offering "Any" slightly more risky. But it means you aren't out of luck if you have a last-minute idea for a ship you just gotta ask for.)

- I'm also redoing the tagset/signup form so that "fandom" is no longer required, which means the signup summary will now show character/relationship instead of fandom (much more useful!). There were a couple of exchanges like that last year, and I felt it would work much better for us. I will need to experiment a bit with this before the tagset goes live, to make sure everything is working correctly.

This year's dates:
• March 12-30: Tag nominations.
• March 20-30: Signups.
• March 31-ish: Assignments go out.
• May 1: Check-in.
• June 7: Fanworks due.
• June 14: Archive goes live.
• June 21: Reveals.

Lowering the fic minimum to 500 words seemed to work very well last year, so we'll keep that this year.

I've just started reading through the collection (yes, it's been A Week) but everything is GREAT so far! The quality in this exchange is just so high, you guys. Thank you again for making it possible. ♥ ♥ ♥

Okay, now that SSR Confidential #4 has wrapped, any thoughts on rule changes for next year's exchange? This year we lowered the word count minimum to 500 words - did that seem to work well, or should we reconsider this for future exchanges? (As a data point, we had a slightly lower rate of dropouts this year than normal, especially early dropouts; I'm not sure if it's related since every year is different, but it's definitely plausible that the lower minimum made it possible for more people to complete their assignments!)

What about this year's schedule, with a slightly longer creating period - did that work? Were the reminder posts helpful? Should we have more formal progress check-ins during the creating period, or is everyone happy the way things are? What about the signup process - any issues there?

Any suggestions for rule or schedule changes for next year?

Feedback is by no means required, but if there's anything you might like to see changed in future exchanges, now is a good time to comment on it, while it's all fresh in everybody's minds.

We lowered the fic minimum to 500 words this year, from 1000 words in previous years, but I realized when I looked at my assignment email that while I changed it in the rules, I completely forgot to change it in the assignment footer. If you are signed up as a fic writer, you only have to write 500 words minimum, no matter what your assignment email says.

All other information in the assignment email (deadlines, etc) is correct.

This is just a reminder, a few weeks past reveals, for any of you who haven't already, to go check out your gift and comment on it! I know sometimes we get busy and forget, or can't think of anything to say, or meant to check out your gift and then Life Happened and didn't get a chance. It happens! So this is a reminder in case you're in the "oops, I forgot and I should go do that now" category.

It's also a reminder in case you started reading and then got distracted (not that this ever happens to me *cough*) that we have lots of really excellent fic, art, and vids, and you can check out not just this year's fanworks but all the works from past years in the parent collection too.

Just a quick announcement - due to poor planning on your mod’s part, I’m going camping on the evening of the 8th and won’t have Internet, and we still have a story out that’s unlikely to be turned in ‘til later tomorrow (also due to poor planning on my part, not the writer's fault; I didn’t put the “deadline plus RL plans” equation together correctly when I approved the extension a week or so ago), so I’m just going to make the modly decision that the stories will be revealed when I get back from my camping trip on the evening of Saturday the 9th.

Due to the probable lack of Internet, any queries, emails, etc. from Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon won't be replied to until I get back and have Internet again.

I expect to be back home by 6 or 7 p.m. Alaska time (or so) on Saturday, and I’ll make an announcement a couple of hours before I reveal the stories in case anyone is working on last-minute treats.

So this means more time for making treats! If you feel like some inspiration, you can look through the requests here. :)

Signups are open!

Dates and deadlines:

You'll need to request two (2) characters or relationships from the tagset, and offer four (4).

Important change from last year: Each character or pairing is now a separate request, rather than all of them being collected in one request like we used to do. This means you can, for example, ask for fic with one pairing and vids with another.

Fanwork types and minimums:
• Fic (minimum 1000 words)
• Drawn art (digital or traditional media - minimum 1 finished piece)
• Graphics (minimum 1 wallpaper, or 2 gifsets of at least 4 gifs each, or at least 10 icons, or equivalent)
• Vids (minimum 1 minute)

SSR Confidential 2017 signups are open!

You will need to request 2-8 characters and/or relationships, and offer 4-12. Characters and relationships will be entered in the "character" field; you may request either or both. Once you've ticked the "Agent Carter" tag, start typing to bring up a drop-down of possible tags with the character you want. If a tag you want doesn't appear, check the master list of tags (there's a known bug where tags don't always show up) and enter it manually if it's there.

For allowable types of fanworks, you can select from Fic, Drawn/Digital Art, Graphics (i.e. wallpapers, icons, etc), and Vids. You must choose at least one for requests and for offers. You can choose different ones for each (e.g. you can request fic and offer art).

Requests are public, so once people start to sign up, you can view the requests here for potential treating purposes.

Signups will close on Saturday, March 25 at 8:00 p.m. Alaska time (midnight Eastern time).

Since the tag list on AO3 is hard to read, a complete list of all tags currently in the set is under the cut. Everything submitted so far has been processed.

Question: What are your thoughts on including Arnim Zola as an allowable character tag? He only appears briefly in AC, but he does appear. I'm on the fence about this, because last year I don't think I allowed Steve to be nominated as a standalone character even though he also appears (in flashbacks), though either character as part of a pairing with an AC character is fine. DISCUSS.

Nominations are open at the 2017 SSR Confidential tag set!

You can nominate up to four characters and relationships (total) that you would like to request or offer in the exchange. (In the exchange itself you will be able to request up to six, and offer more. Nominations, however, are capped at four since a basic set of characters and relationships is already available.)

Before nominating, check the tag set to see if the ones you want are already there. If so, you do not have to nominate anything (it isn't a qualifying step in order to participate).

If you nominate relationships, please enter them in the "Character" field and name them like this: "Relationship: Character's Full Name & Character's Full Name" (for gen) or "Relationship: Character's Full Name/Character's Full Name" (for ship). For example: "Relationship: Peggy Carter/Angie Martinelli". You can include more than two characters in a relationship, and crossovers with other fandoms as long as at least one of them is an Agent Carter character. Please do not mix gen and ship in one relationship (for example, "Relationship: Peggy Carter/Howard Stark/Edwin Jarvis" is fine, but not "Relationship: Peggy Carter/Howard Stark & Edwin Jarvis").

Nominating characters should be self-explanatory. Use their full names, if known. You can only nominate Agent Carter characters, not characters from other fandoms or other parts of the MCU (although crossover characters can be part of relationships).

Hi, and welcome to the planning post for the 2017 edition of SSR Confidential, an Agent Carter fanworks exchange, back for year 2! Also posted on LJ.

Tentative schedule (very similar to last year):
• March 1-12: Nominations.
• March 15-25: Signups.
• March 28 or 29: Assignments go out.
• May 1: No-fault dropout deadline.
• June 1: Fanworks due.
• June 8: Archive goes live.
• June 15: Reveals.

For the most part, everything went very smoothly last year. I'm contemplating a couple of rule changes for this year; let me know what you think?

- No placeholder fics. I'm totally fine granting extensions, and it's okay if a story is not beta'd yet and if you continue to revise/rewrite it right up to reveals, but when the deadline passes, you must have either asked for an extension, or you must have a finished story in the archive, NOT a copy-paste from some other exchange or some other kind of filler text. Otherwise your assignment will go out to pinch hit.

- Participants who don't comment or at least kudos their gift this year will be banned from signing up the following year (though they can still pinch hit). Signing up to receive a gift also means signing up to politely acknowledge your gift.

Thoughts, ideas, input? If we keep this schedule, tag set nominations will open in just about a week and a half. \o/
